I look at this piece as a vehicle of some sorts, a futuristic morphing of animal and machine. I can almost imagine climbing aboard it and riding off into etheric realms. The forging process you see on the blade is called "San Mai"; It is essentially like a three-layer sandwich: here the outsides are 1095 and NI2000 Turkish Twist Damascus, and the center core is CPM10V high-grade tool steel. This type of setup has several advantages: it opens up a whole new world of pattern combinations, as well as the ability to have a super high-grade steel available as your cutting edge. All of the steel, including the 1095/a203e Ladder pattern bolsters, was forged by Daryl Meier. The titanium handle core and "liners" feature two-color anodizing and some texturing. This time the handle material is gorgeous sky blue, white and orange Fossil Walrus Ivory. Along the spine are more set stones, along with my signature piercings, and fullered accents. This was the first knife that I used the semi transparent pearl with my logo and picture.

This knife appeared in the following publications: "Art & Design in Modern Custom Fixed-Blade Knives", "Knives Annual 2004", the Sept.-Oct.-Nov. 2003 edition of the French magazine "Excalibur", in the Feb. 2003 edition of "Knives Illustrated", and in the Oct. 2000 Swiss magazine "Internationales Waffen-Magazin".
